The annual median salary is $43,500 and through the year 2020, there will be 37,300 job openings. To enter the field, you’ll need at least a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, and experience with web design and multimedia can really increase your opportunities and your value as a graphic designer.

Most graphic designers will work with advertising or marketing firms, publishing companies and software companies. Another option is to work as a freelancer or self-employed graphic designers, which is what a large percentage of graduates do.

Provo College is considered the largest graphic design school in the state of Utah, but there are several more to choose from. This includes Brigham State University, the University of Utah, Southern Utah University, Dixie State College of Utah, Utah State University – College of Eastern Utah, Stevens-Henager College, ITT Tech Murray, Eagle Gate College and The Art Institute of Salt Lake City. Keep in mind that these are just the campus-based colleges available to you. There are plenty of online graphic design schools in Utah as well.
